The Lower Pearl River Valley Foundation (LPRVF) was established in 1998 as a not-for-profit Health Legacy Foundation to manage funds from the sale of Crosby Memorial Hospital. The hospital was originally founded by the Crosby family in 1951 as a private, non-profit healthcare facility in Picayune, Mississippi. After decades of community-focused operations under various governance structures, the hospital was sold to New American Healthcare Corporation in 1998. LPRVF was created to steward the proceeds from this sale, dedicated to supporting health and well-being initiatives across the region.
